HKG has resting areas and showers inside the airport, but its FAQ says there is no transit hotel in the restricted area. Regal Airport Hotel connects to T1 on the public side; check entry eligibility before reserving a room.
Lounge & shower shortlist
Location and access come first. These are researched options, not an exhaustive directory. Use the linked operator for current availability and prices.
| Place & location | Access | Before you book |
|---|---|---|
| Plaza Premium Lounge East Hall T1 · Level 6 · near Gate 1 | Airside | The airport lists 24-hour operation. Confirm admission, visit duration and included facilities. |
| Plaza Premium Lounge West Hall T1 · Level 7 · near Gate 60 | Airside | A separate location from the lounge near Gate 35; choose the one compatible with your route. |
| Complimentary shower facilities Arrivals Level 5 · near Gates 12 and 43 | Airside arrivals area | Shampoo and bath gel are supplied; towels and other consumables are available from vending machines. |
The gate number changes the lounge decision
Several HKG lounges use similar Plaza Premium names. Different locations have different opening schedules; do not treat one directory result as the rule for the whole brand.
East Hall near Gate 1
The airport directory lists the Plaza Premium Lounge here as open 24 hours. Confirm whether your admission includes the facilities you want and whether a maximum visit applies.
West Hall near Gate 60
This Level 7 lounge is also listed as 24 hours. It is a separate booking choice; estimate the walk back to the onward gate before moving west for a break.
Near Gate 35
The listed Plaza Premium Lounge closes overnight, unlike the two locations above. Check the current hours for your exact product, including Plaza Premium First, rather than arriving with a generic lounge pass.
If the goal is a shower rather than a meal, compare the separate complimentary service before buying a lounge visit.
Terminals & airport transfers
Choose the route for your itinerary. Public road directions do not describe restricted airport corridors.
Transfer desk → security → departure gate
Signed airport transfer routeTransfer details
Use the boarding-pass branch in the official transfer guide. The airport map is the right reference for concourse and level changes; a city road map cannot show the restricted passenger path. Allow for screening and walking before starting the break.
Know before you settle in
Storage is on the public side
The airport FAQ places baggage storage in the non-restricted area on Terminal 1 Level 5. A transit passenger must be able to enter Hong Kong to reach it. Check collection hours and the onward bag-drop deadline before committing to a city visit.

Choosing a lounge at HKG
HKG has resting areas and showers inside the airport, but its FAQ says there is no transit hotel in the restricted area. Regal Airport Hotel connects to T1 on the public side; check entry eligibility before reserving a room.
Compare the visit, not just the entry price
Open the linked listing for the location you can access. Check the admission route (airline, card, membership or paid booking), the permitted stay, child fees and whether capacity restrictions apply.
Need a shower rather than a long stay?
Ask whether a shower is included, separately paid or subject to a queue. A shower-only package can serve a different need from a full lounge visit. Leave enough time to reach your next gate afterwards.
Keep the right terminal in focus
A booking labelled “Aerotel” or “airport hotel” is not proof of a private airside bedroom. The airport currently describes Refreshhh by Aerotel as showers, hair blow-dry rooms and a resting area. Confirm the actual product before paying.
A few useful answers
What is the most common booking mistake at HKG?
A booking labelled “Aerotel” or “airport hotel” is not proof of a private airside bedroom. The airport currently describes Refreshhh by Aerotel as showers, hair blow-dry rooms and a resting area. Confirm the actual product before paying.
Can I use facilities in another terminal?
With an onward boarding pass, follow transfer signs towards departures and pass transfer security. Without one, find the airline’s designated transfer desk first. Resolve the boarding pass before walking to a lounge on the other side of the airport.
Are opening hours and prices guaranteed?
No. Use the airport or operator’s current information for your travel date. Prices, availability and access rules may change.
Can I leave the airport during my connection?
A visit to Hong Kong requires entry clearance and a separate outward and return allowance. Keep baggage collection and the next security process in the plan. Do not use a train’s advertised ride time as the entire airport-to-city round trip.
