An overnight international connection at NRT cannot be planned as an all-night airside stay. The airport requires overnight transfer passengers to complete arrival immigration and customs. Check entry eligibility before booking; daytime nap rooms are a different product.
Lounge & shower shortlist
Location and access come first. These are researched options, not an exhaustive directory. Use the linked operator for current availability and prices.
| Place & location | Access | Before you book |
|---|---|---|
| T1 public shower rooms T1 Central Building · 2F | Landside | Shower-only rooms; the airport does not accept shower reservations. |
| Aspire Lounge T2 Satellite · 2F · international departures | Airside | Check operator admission and the current opening window. |
Before security and after security are different purchases
Narita lists airline lounges separately from credit-card lounges. Match the actual facility, not simply the terminal number or a card logo.
Airline departure lounge
The directory places ANA facilities in T1 and JAL Sakura international facilities in T2. Admission depends on the carrier’s rules and your ticket or status; the existence of a listing is not general paid access.
Credit-card lounge
The airport lists IASS Executive Lounge 1 on T1’s fifth floor and Executive Lounge 2 on T2’s fourth floor before security. A transit passenger may need arrival entry to reach them, and eligible cards vary.
If flying from T3
The airport’s card-lounge guide says there are no lounges in T3 and directs passengers to T2. That does not mean a T3 boarding pass grants access to a T2 international airside lounge: verify the specific public-side option and return route.
A lounge is not an overnight alternative at Narita. Check the closing time and any subsequent security process before settling in.
Terminals & airport transfers
Choose the route for your itinerary. Public road directions do not describe restricted airport corridors.
T1 ↔ T2 ↔ T3 on the public side
Free terminal shuttle / T2–T3 walking corridorTransfer details
The airport operates free public-side terminal shuttles and a T2–T3 walking corridor. Stops and circular routes differ, so check the destination before boarding. Use this page for a hotel or new check-in, and the separate transit bus instructions for an airside connection.
International transfer between terminals
Designated transit passenger busesTransfer details
Use the official international connection guide to find the appropriate bus gate. It notes limited service times for T3 routes and airline-dependent cases requiring arrival procedures. Confirm the carrier’s handling before assuming a public shuttle can be used instead.
Know before you settle in
A room and a shower have different last acceptance times
T1 refresh rooms list last admission at 20:00 for a nap room and 20:30 for showers; T2 lists 20:30 and 21:00 respectively. Check the current schedule when travelling late. Do not assume the public shower room, airside dayroom and capsule follow the same clock.
Official information ↗Checked 2026-10-22Nine Hours is a public-side service
The operator offers overnight accommodation, short-term rest and shower-only use at T2. Capsule and locker entrances are separated for men and women, so ask about your family’s arrangements rather than expecting a shared hotel room.

Personal checklist & offline guide
Your personal checklist

Choosing a lounge at NRT
An overnight international connection at NRT cannot be planned as an all-night airside stay. The airport requires overnight transfer passengers to complete arrival immigration and customs. Check entry eligibility before booking; daytime nap rooms are a different product.
Compare the visit, not just the entry price
Open the linked listing for the location you can access. Check the admission route (airline, card, membership or paid booking), the permitted stay, child fees and whether capacity restrictions apply.
Need a shower rather than a long stay?
Ask whether a shower is included, separately paid or subject to a queue. A shower-only package can serve a different need from a full lounge visit. Leave enough time to reach your next gate afterwards.
Keep the right terminal in focus
Nine Hours is before security at T2, while the T1 and T2 nap rooms are after international security. Neither a capsule booking nor a dayroom listing removes the airport’s overnight entry requirement.
A few useful answers
What is the most common booking mistake at NRT?
Nine Hours is before security at T2, while the T1 and T2 nap rooms are after international security. Neither a capsule booking nor a dayroom listing removes the airport’s overnight entry requirement.
Can I use facilities in another terminal?
Narita distinguishes transit passenger shuttle buses after security from public-side terminal shuttles. Confirm both terminals and use the matching route. Some airlines require arrival procedures even for a terminal change; ask your carrier rather than assuming every connection stays airside.
Are opening hours and prices guaranteed?
No. Use the airport or operator’s current information for your travel date. Prices, availability and access rules may change.
Can I leave the airport during my connection?
A visit to Narita or Tokyo involves entry to Japan and a return departure process. Narita and Haneda are different airports: a change between NRT and HND is a landside journey with baggage, transport and a new check-in allowance, not a terminal shuttle.
