YOTELAIR is in international transit; YOTEL is on the public side. The similar names conceal the most important booking condition. IST and SAW are different airports.
A more comfortable place to pause
Location and access come first. These are researched options, not an exhaustive directory. Use the linked operator for current availability and prices.
| Place & location | Access | Before you book |
|---|---|---|
| YOTELAIR Istanbul Airport International terminal · Duty Free area | Airside | A valid onward international boarding pass is required. Check baggage arrangements before booking. |
| YOTEL Istanbul Airport Main terminal · public area | Landside | Different access from YOTELAIR. International transit passengers need permission to enter Türkiye. |
Room privacy and lounge rest are different purchases
Istanbul has an international airside room option and lounge rest facilities. Decide whether you need uninterrupted sleep, a shower or simply a less busy place to sit.
YOTELAIR for a private room
The hotel is within the international Duty Free area. It can suit an eligible international connection with bags checked through, but it is the wrong starting point if your itinerary first requires baggage reclaim and entry.
iGA International for a broader lounge break
The operator lists a nap zone and shower area in its International Lounge. Those features do not guarantee an available private bed. Ask about access to the specific facility and the time allowed under your admission method.
Domestic departure: use a domestic plan
The domestic lounge is a different location. Do not assume an international lounge entitlement or hotel route carries over when your next flight is domestic; finish the airline’s required connection procedures first.
For meaningful sleep, compare the room or lounge time with the complete walk to the next gate, not just the scheduled layover length.
Terminals & airport transfers
Choose the route for your itinerary. Public road directions do not describe restricted airport corridors.
IST ↔ SAW · a change of airport
HAVAIST coach or booked road transferTransfer details
Sabiha Gökçen lists HAVAIST services to Istanbul Airport, with pickup across Arrivals at the open car park level. Check the operator for the stop at IST, current departures and fare. Budget for immigration, baggage reclaim, the wait for transport, variable road traffic and a fresh check-in at the other airport. Do not treat the driving estimate as the whole connection time.
International ↔ domestic at IST
Signed passenger transfer routeTransfer details
First confirm that both flights use IST. Follow the international or domestic transfer signs for your onward flight; a domestic connection changes your border-control requirements. Ask the airline about baggage and assistance before choosing a hotel or taking a detour.
Know before you settle in
Staffed storage or a departures locker
Turkish Airlines identifies two left-luggage offices in the Arrivals Meeters & Greeters Hall and electronic lockers in the Departures check-in area. These public-side facilities are useful after entering Türkiye; they are not an airside solution. Confirm the desk’s collection hours before leaving the terminal.
Official information ↗Checked 2026-10-20Where to request mobility help on arrival
Assistance phones and call buttons are at entrances 1, 3, 5 and 7 between the car park and Departures. Four assistance phones also serve the Arrivals Meeters & Greeters Hall. Arrange assistance with your airline before travel and use these points if you need help reaching check-in or your onward transport.
Official information ↗Checked 2026-10-20A public-side option after the last train
The airline’s Istanbul Airport guide confirms taxis operate 24/7 directly from the Arrivals level. For an overnight hotel or airport change, keep a road-transfer option in your plan instead of assuming rail runs all night. Check the fare and vehicle capacity before departure, especially with a family and luggage.

Access comes first. Select up to three places to compare. “Not verified” means we have not confirmed a feature; it does not mean the facility lacks it.
| Place & access | Bed / rest | Shower | Families |

| iGA Lounge International ↗International Departures · escalator beside LCW · Airside | Nap area; not a private hotel room | Shower area listed; check your admission package | Children’s play area listed; check admission by age |
| iGA Lounge Domestic ↗Domestic Departures · opposite G6 · Airside | No private bed verified | Not verified — ask operator | Child admission and occupancy not verified |
| YOTELAIR Istanbul Airport ↗International terminal · Duty Free area · Airside | Private cabin / room | En-suite rain shower | Room categories for up to 4 guests; select the correct category |

Personal checklist & offline guide
Your personal checklist
Choose what applies to your trip. Progress stays on this device for IST. Checking an item is your own reminder, not an access approval.
A standalone HTML file with your checklist, transfer instructions, facility locations and source notes. It needs no app or login to read offline. Save it before travelling. It contains a snapshot of your ticks; download again after updates.
Where to sleep at IST
YOTELAIR is a practical shortlist for international transit passengers who need a private room. Do not leave the transit area to find it. If your bag must be collected, resolve that requirement before reserving an airside room.
A seat, a lounge or a room?
A lounge buys facilities and a quieter place to sit; it does not automatically include a bed. A room is the more predictable option for privacy. For terminal seating, ask staff which areas you may use overnight rather than assuming the entire airport stays accessible.
- Use the table above to match your departure area to a real facility.
- Confirm your booking covers your actual arrival time, not just the calendar date.
- Keep medication, charging cables and a light layer in cabin baggage.
The access detail that matters
An Istanbul hotel search can show properties at Sabiha Gökçen (SAW). Match the airport code, then check whether the property is airside or landside.
Plan the wake-up, not just the bedtime
Work backwards from the airline’s gate deadline. Include the walk, any transfer and checks after leaving the room. Set two alarms, secure your documents and check the flight screens again when you wake.
A few useful answers
What is the most common booking mistake at IST?
An Istanbul hotel search can show properties at Sabiha Gökçen (SAW). Match the airport code, then check whether the property is airside or landside.
Can I use facilities in another terminal?
Check whether the onward flight is international or domestic before following transfer signs. For an international airside hotel stay, keep your onward boarding pass ready and stay inside the international transit area.
Are opening hours and prices guaranteed?
No. Use the airport or operator’s current information for your travel date. Prices, availability and access rules may change.
Can I leave the airport during my connection?
Treat an Istanbul city visit as a separate return journey. Confirm entry permission and current ground transport before allocating sightseeing time; the planner does not assume a city trip fits.
