Terminal 2 and its satellite are separate buildings. Gates G/H use the main building and J/K/L the satellite; the underground train is part of that route. Napcabs have public and airside locations, while Hilton is a public-side hotel between T1 and T2.
A more comfortable place to pause
Location and access come first. These are researched options, not an exhaustive directory. Use the linked operator for current availability and prices.

Choose a cabin by location and party size
Munich offers sleep cabins as well as public hotel rooms. Decide which side of security you can use and how many people need a bed before comparing the hourly product.
A standard napcab is not the XL cabin
The airport specifically lists napcabsXL near G06 with a queen-size bed for two. Other cabins are standard size. Check the selected category and location in the booking system instead of assuming every available cabin accommodates a couple.
Public and airside cabins have different arrival routes
The official directory lists napcabs in both settings. If you must collect a suitcase or meet somebody in the public area, work through that requirement first; a cabin beyond security may no longer be the practical choice.
A shower is a separate question
A private place to lie down does not by itself establish that an en-suite shower is included. Munich lists airport showers separately at MAC and T2. Compare the rest-plus-shower route with a public hotel room, especially when your available break is short.
For a family, confirm occupancy and children’s use directly before booking. Do not turn a two-person cabin listing into an unverified family-room recommendation.
Terminals & airport transfers
Choose the route for your itinerary. Public road directions do not describe restricted airport corridors.
Terminal 1 ↔ Terminal 2
Free connecting-passenger shuttle busTransfer details
The airport lists a 5–7 minute bus ride, every 10 minutes from 07:00–17:00 and every 20 minutes from 06:00–07:00 and 17:00–23:00. These hours do not imply a regular overnight service. The signs for your next gate lead to the appropriate bus stop; add walking, waiting and checks beyond the ride.
T2 main building ↔ T2 satellite
Underground passenger trainTransfer details
G/H use the main T2 building; J/K/L use the satellite. The airport lists trains every 4 minutes from 04:00 to midnight, with a journey of about one minute. Confirm the current gate and follow signs: this is not the same service as the T1–T2 bus.
Know before you settle in
Public and airside showers need different routes
Munich lists showers at MAC and T2, with public and after-security locations. The airport specifically describes the MAC showers as barrier-free; keys and amenities are obtained from Service Centers. Check the exact location and service-desk access before crossing a checkpoint just to shower.
Official information ↗Checked 2026-10-22Check the line and direction after midnight
The checked airport transport page lists the S8 as running through the night, at a reduced frequency in the early hours; the S1 has a different operating pattern. Use the linked MVV planner and operating-status page for the actual date. Construction can replace a rail leg with a bus, so keep a return alternative.
Official information ↗Checked 2026-10-22Book assistance through the airline
Munich asks travellers to communicate assistance needs at booking or at least 48 hours before departure. Mobility Service is arranged through the airline or travel organiser, not directly with the airport service. Describe any terminal bus or satellite train stage, and include the route from public transport if help is needed before check-in.

Personal checklist & offline guide
Your personal checklist
Choose what applies to your trip. Progress stays on this device for MUC. Checking an item is your own reminder, not an access approval.

Where to sleep at MUC
Choose the exact napcab location before booking: Munich lists both public-area and after-security cabins. Hilton offers public-side rooms, including day use, between the terminals. A cabin in one area is not proof that your boarding pass permits access to every cabin.
A seat, a lounge or a room?
A lounge buys facilities and a quieter place to sit; it does not automatically include a bed. A room is the more predictable option for privacy. For terminal seating, ask staff which areas you may use overnight rather than assuming the entire airport stays accessible.
- Use the table above to match your departure area to a real facility.
- Confirm your booking covers your actual arrival time, not just the calendar date.
- Keep medication, charging cables and a light layer in cabin baggage.
The access detail that matters
A lounge in T1 can be technically bookable while still adding a terminal detour to a T2 departure. Airport Lounge Europe and Airport Lounge World serve different Schengen/non-Schengen needs; they are not interchangeable products.
Plan the wake-up, not just the bedtime
Work backwards from the airline’s gate deadline. Include the walk, any transfer and checks after leaving the room. Set two alarms, secure your documents and check the flight screens again when you wake.
A few useful answers
What is the most common booking mistake at MUC?
A lounge in T1 can be technically bookable while still adding a terminal detour to a T2 departure. Airport Lounge Europe and Airport Lounge World serve different Schengen/non-Schengen needs; they are not interchangeable products.
Can I use facilities in another terminal?
For a T1–T2 connection, follow the signed route to the airport’s free connecting-passenger shuttle. Within T2, use the underground train for the satellite rather than searching for a walking shortcut. Border and security requirements depend on your flight pair, not simply on whether both flights say Munich.
Are opening hours and prices guaranteed?
No. Use the airport or operator’s current information for your travel date. Prices, availability and access rules may change.
Can I leave the airport during my connection?
The airport lists S1 and S8 rail links to Munich. Check the journey planner and current operating situation in both directions before leaving; the train ride is only one part of the door-to-gate return. An airport hotel break may be more practical than a city detour when the usable window is short.
